Madison Walker's Hat Trick Leads Scots to 6-1 Win

Monmouth Moves into Third Place in MWC

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/20/2021) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team went on the road in Midwest Conference play Tuesday night and grabbed a crucial 6-1 win over Illinois College. Madson Walker (Vernon Hills, Illinois) netted a hat-trick and the win puts the Scots in a tie for third place in the MWC standings with a 3-2 record and nine points.

Walker got the Scots on the board just over a minute into the contest with an unassisted goal. With 5:23 gone in the first half Walker doubled the lead with her first collegiate multi-goal game. Senior Payton Gosell (Antioch, Illinois) picked up an assist on the second goal.

Illinois College cut the Scots lead to 2-1 at the 12:29 mark. With under 10 minutes to go in the half, Jaedyn Mitchell (Rockford, Illinois) restored the two-goal lead and Monmouth still led 3-1 at half.

Just 48 seconds into the second half, the Scots scored again. Shelby Sims (Peoria, Illinois) scored her first goal of the season on an assist from Kimberly Lopez (Kenosha, Wisconsin).

Walker completed her hat trick in the 64th minute, the first this season for a Scots player. Erica Bossard (Pella, Iowa) gave the Scots a 6-1 lead with 14 minutes to play.
