Men of Monmouth College's Phi Delta Theta fraternity receive national honor for chapter excellence

Monmouth, Ill. (08/24/2021) — Monmouth College's Illinois Gamma chapter of the national men's fraternity Phi Delta Theta received several national honors at the organization's 83rd General Convention, held last month in Pittsburgh.

Monmouth's Phi Delts received a Silver Star in the Chapter Excellence Award category and were among several chapters to be commended for excellence in service, philanthropy and communication. The latter honor was for the chapter's general headquarters reporting.

Chapter president Bryan Peters '22 of Addison, Illinois, who attended the ceremony, said the honors capped a very successful year for the fraternity.

"I am very humbled in receiving these awards on behalf of our chapter," said Peters. "Despite an incredibly tough year for everyone, our men stepped up in a big way and were able to uphold the expectation of excellence our chapter has worked so hard to repute. I'm very proud of each and every one of our men and hope to have an even more successful 2021-2022 academic year."

Founded in 1848 at Miami University in Ohio, Phi Delta Theta is built on the pillars of cultivation of friendship among its members, the acquirement individually of a high degree of mental culture, and the attainment personally of a high standard of morality.
