Men's Golf Team Finishes Ninth in Fighting Scot Invite

Shields, Greenman both finish top 20

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/03/2023) — The Monmouth College men's golf team hosted the Fighting Scot Invite this weekend at Gibson Woods and finished in ninth place as a team. The event included two rounds, one on Saturday and one on Sunday.

Noah Shields (Rantoul, Illinois) had the best individual finish for a Monmouth golfer with a tie for 12th. He shot a 79 on Saturday and a 74 on Sunday for a +11 153 overall. Ganon Greenman (Alpha, Illinois) finished in a tie for 17th place with a 77-77 +12 154.

Briggs Bossert (Evanston, Illinois) finished in a tie for 31st with a 85-74 +17 159. Grant Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) shot 88-82 for a +28 170 as he tied for 57th.

Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) shot 97-105 for a +60 202 and he finished 69th. Nick Maresco (Highland Park, Illinois) shot 109-96 for a +63 205 to finish 70th.

The Scots finished in ninth place overall with a 636 team score, 68 shots over par. Lake Forest won the team title with a score of 600, 32 shots over par. Luke Lofgren of Black Hawk College won the individual title with a 68-72-140, two shots under par. Lofgren was the only player under par for the event, winning by five shots.

Monmouth is next in action at Illinois College on Friday, April 14.
