Men's Soccer Falls at Home to Principia on Tuesday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/20/2023) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team allowed a goal in each half and lost at home 2-0 to Principia College on Tuesday afternoon.

Monmouth put three shots on goal in the game, all by freshman Carter Breuchaud (Lebanon, Illinois). Five other players had shots off goal as the Scots were outshot 17-8 in the game. Christopher Zavala (New Lenox, Illinois) made eight saves in the contest

Principia scored in the 29th minute and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. They made two point-blank saves on Breuchaud early in the second half and doubled the lead in the 69th minute.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Tanner Viren (East Moline, Illinois) and Zavala played all 90 minutes. Corner kicks were 8-2 to the Panthers. The Scots play again at home on Wednesday with a 3:30 p.m. kickoff against Greenville University. Midwest Conference play starts on Saturday at Lawrence.
