Men's Soccer Scores Most Goals in 12 Years to Win 6-0

Six different goal scorers as Scots win third straight

by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/17/2025) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team scored their most goals in a game in 12 years and pushed the win streak to three with a 6-0 rout at UHSP on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots (3-2-1) are off to their best start since a 4-2 opening to the 2019 season.

"Everyone played well for us today," said head coach Ian Hatleli. "We fought as a team and didn't vary from the game play. With conference starting next weekend we are looking to hone in on what we do as a team this week. This has been a good stretch, but we still have one more game to iron out some important details."

Owen Murray (Cedar City, Utah) scored less than five minutes into the game. The unassisted goal was his fifth of the season, all coming in the last three games. Just three minutes later, Murray was on the passing end as he assisted Logan Corgan's (Geneseo, Illinois) first goal of the season for a 2-0 lead. Justin Barrett (Las Vegas, Nevada) scored in the 34th minute off an assist from Chase Sims (Tiskilwa, Illinois). Goalkeeper Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) did not have to make a save in the first half as the Scots had all nine shots on goal.

Ten minutes into the second half, Murray handed out his second assist as senior Parker Davis (Burlington, Iowa) made it 4-0. Freshman Ian Rowland (Jackson, Georgia) scored his first career goal as he beat the UHSP keeper one-on-one in the 76th minute, assisted by Barrett. Treyton Yi (Streamwood, Illinois) finished off the scoring with a long-distance goal, his first collegiate score, as Koby Bodner (Lincoln, Nebraska) picked up the assist.

Villa did not have to make a save in his 59 minutes of play in goal. Sims moved from the field to the goal for the final 31 minutes, his first action between the posts. Sims made one save as UHSP put a shot on goal in the 88th minute.
