Men's Soccer Season Ends with Home Loss

MONMOUTH, Ill. (11/01/2025) — The Monmouth College men's soccer team ended their season with a 5-0 home loss to nationally ranked Lake Forest on Saturday. The Fighting Scots finish the campaign at 3-9-3 overall, 0-7-1 in the Midwest Conference.

The #23 ranked Foresters scored in the ninth minute. Luis Villa (El Paso, Texas) made two saves in the first half but LFC scored again in the 41st minute for the 2-0 lead.

The visitors put two more in the net in the first 25 minutes of the second half before Monmouth went down to 10 men. Villa made two more saves but LFC scored a fifth goal in the 78th minute. Villa finished with four saves on the day. Ryan Rodriguez-Gardea (El Paso, Texas) put a shot on goal for Monmouth in the 69th minute.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Senior Parker Davis (Burlington, Iowa) was honored in a pregame Senior Day ceremony ... Villa and Alex Cruz (El Paso, Texas) played all 90 minutes ... Villa played the most minutes on the season with all 1350 minutes played ... Owen Murray (Cedar City, Utah), Aimilios Ioannou (Lanarca, Cyprus), Paul Oros (El Paso, Texas), Justin Barrett (Las Vegas, Nevada), Logan Corgan (Geneseo, Illinois), Cruz, Villa and Treyton Yi (Streamwood, Illinois) played in all 15 games this season ... Cruz, Yi, Corgan, Murray and Villa started all 15 games ... Murray led the Scots with seven goals, three assists and 17 points ... Ioannou also had three assists ... Lake Forest leads the all-time series 22-5-3 including a 4-0 win last year ... The Scots won at home in 2023 3-2.
