Men's Tennis Competes in Day One of MWC Tournament

Doubles teams will play on Sunday

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/27/2024) — The Monmouth College men's tennis team opened play at the Midwest Conference Individual Tournament on Saturday with singles and doubles play.

At No,. 1 singles, Sawyer Day (Kansas City, Missouri) lost 6-0, 6-2 to Grinnell in the main draw and 8-5 to Illinois College in the consolation semifinals.

Spencer Corn (Cupertino, California) played at No. 2 singles and lost 6-0, 6-0 to Lake Forest in the main draw. He fell 8-2 to Lawrence in the consolation semifinals.

Andrew Nickols (Janesville, Wisconsin) lost 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles against Lake Forest in the main draw and 8-2 to Ripon in the consolation semifinals.

Macaden Sepich (Mackinaw, Illinois) lost 6-0, 6-0 at No 4 singles to Lake Forest in the main draw and 8-5 to Ripon in the consolation semifinals.

Nehemiah Declaw (Aurora, Colorado) played at No. 5 singles and lost 6-0, 6-0 to Lake Forest before falling in the consolation semifinals

The doubles teams of Day/Corn at No. 1 and Sepich/Nickols at No 2 both lost 6-0, 6-0 to Lake Forest in the main draw.

The tournament continues on Sunday in Madison with both doubles teams in the consolation.
