Men's Tennis Drops MWC Opener at Lake Forest

Concordia Match Canceled

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/05/2026) — The Monmouth College men's tennis team started conference play on Saturday with a 7-0 loss at Lake Forest. The Fighting Scots (1-8, 0-1) were also scheduled at Concordia Chicago on Saturday afternoon but the match was canceled due to inclement weather.

All six singles matches finished 6-0, 6-0 for Lake Forest with Matthew Savage (Washington, Illinois) at No 1, Antonio Perez (St. George, Utah) at No, 2, Macaden Sepich (Mackinaw, Illinois) at No. 3, Caden De Jong (Freeport, Illinois) at No 4, Chase Sims (Tiskilwa, Illinois) at No. 5 and Ashur Carthan (Homewood, Illinois) at No. 6.

The three doubles matches finished 6-0 for LFC. Savage and Perez played at No, 1 while Sepich and De Jong teamed at No. 2, Sims played with Alfonso Mares (Oak Lawn, Illinois) at No. 3.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: The Scots last beat Lake Forest in 2015 and last won a match against the Foresters in 2019 ... Sims suffered his first career singles loss after starting 3-0,, ... The Scots continue conference play next weekend with Saturday matches at Cornell and Grinnell ... The next home match is April 14 against Illinois College.
