Metcalf, Williams Earn All-Conference Honors
Scots to face Cornell Friday night at MWC Tournament
MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/23/2023) — The Monmouth College men's basketball team picked up two Midwest Conference honors on Thursday as senior Jordan Metcalf (Aledo, Illinois) was named First-Team All-Conference and junior David Williams (Loves Park, Illinois) was named Newcomer of the Year.
Metcalf played in all 25 games so far this season and leads the Scots in scoring at 14.7 ppg and rebounding at 9.0 per game. He is shooting 59.3% from the field and 66.7% from the free throw line while also leading the Scots with 31 blocks. Metcalf has 10 double-doubles on the season, including two in the last three games.
He leads the MWC in shooting percentage, ranks seventh in scoring, third in rebounding and second in blocks.
Williams is averaging 13.1 points per game and 4.5 rebounds per game while adding 40 assists and 22 steals. He leads the Scots with 53 3-pointers made and he's shooting 34.9% from deep on the season. Williams has made 81 of 100 from the free throw line.
Williams made at least two 3-pointers in 16 of his 24 games and he knocked three or more nine times. He enters the MWC Tournament having made 12-of-29 (.414) in the last four games and he was 6-of-10 at Ripon in his last contest. Williams has also made 30 of his last 35 free throws.

Last year Metcalf was on the second team as the Scots lone postseason selection. There have been 11 All-Conference selections in the Skrivseth Era with Will Carius (2018-19), Justin Aluya (2017-18), Will Jones (2017-18) and Andrew Mathison (2014-15) also earning First-Team honors. Williams joins Carius as Monmouth players to be named Newcomer of the Year.
The Scots return to the Midwest Conference Tournament this weekend, their fourth appearance under Coach Skrivseth. The 3-seeded Scots play the 2-seed Cornell Rams at 7 p.m. Friday at Illinois College. The winner will face either IC or Ripon at 3 p.m. Saturday with a NCAA berth on the line.
