Monmouth College cancels this summer's College for Kids program

by Barry McNamara

Monmouth, Ill. (03/18/2020) — Monmouth College's annual summer enrichment program for children, College For Kids, is canceled for 2020.

College For Kids Director Kathy Mainz said the "difficult decision" was reached after consultation with College administration, the Warren County Health Department, the Illinois Department of Public Health and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

"This continues to be an extraordinary time for all of us," said Mainz. "As responses to the spread of COVID-19 accelerate, Monmouth College has been meeting around the clock to continue to discuss what is best for the campus and community. As such, the difficult decision has been made to cancel College For Kids at Monmouth College for summer 2020."

Students who have already registered will have tuition refunded in full.

"College For Kids is committed to maintaining the safety and well-being of students, families and the communities that our students come from," said Mainz. "Hopefully, in summer 2021 we will be back with a great program of offerings to celebrate our 41st year."
