Monmouth College Chorale to present 'Broadway in Film' on Nov. 15

by Barry McNamara

Monmouth, IL (11/13/2018) — Music from Broadway will be performed on Broadway when the Monmouth College Chorale stages a special show on Nov. 15.

The Chorale will present "Broadway in Film" at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium, coincidentally located on East Broadway Avenue.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Chorale's upcoming spring break trip to Texas. Admission is free, but donations toward the trip are appreciated.

"This is the second year that we have done a concert like this," said Chorale director Tim Pahel. "We did one last spring that featured solos, duets and ensembles from opera as well as Broadway. This year, almost all the music is taken from Broadway shows that have been made into films."

Pahel said the show will feature "lots of variety. There are beautiful ballads as well as comedic numbers. There is music from old classic shows like The Sound of Music and from newer ones like Mamma Mia."

Other performances will come from Annie Get Your Gun, Chicago, Hairspray, Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, Singin' in the Rain, Phantom of the Opera, Shrek, Little Shop of Horrors, Little Women, Anastasia, Wicked and Les Miserables.
