Monmouth College to host 'Broadway on Broadway' concert on April 12

Monmouth, Ill. (04/08/2025) — "Broadway on Broadway" is returning to campus on April 12, as the Monmouth College Chorale hosts one of its annual fundraising events.

"Each year, Chorale holds a 'Broadway on Broadway' concert, where solos, duets and ensembles from Broadway shows are performed in Dahl Chapel," said Chorale director Tim Pahel.

This year's event begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Kasch Performance Hall of the chapel. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for Monmouth College students.

"It's always a great addition to the program to get some faculty and staff involved," said Pahel, who noted that Monmouth professors Logan Mayfield and David Wright will join the 15 student performers. Mayfield will sing "Gethsemane" from Jesus Christ Superstar. "There's going to be a lot of musical variety and excellent performances. It will definitely be entertaining and fun."

Comedic selections include a song from the sadistic dentist in Little Shop of Horrors, a duet called "A Roll in the Hay" from Young Frankenstein, and "Man or Muppet" from The Muppet Movie.

"And there will be lots of other entertaining repertoire, like 'You'll Be Back and 'Burn' from Hamilton, and the love duet 'Suddenly Seymour' from Little Shop of Horrors," said Pahel.

The emcees for the event are students Kent Huth '26 of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, and Rylan Marr '27 of Aledo, Illinois.
