Monmouth College to host Gospel Explosion concert Feb. 23 in Dahl Chapel

by Barry McNamara

Monmouth, IL (02/20/2019) — Monmouth College will celebrate Black History Month with the Gospel Explosion event "Faith Over Fear."

Free and open to the public, the concert will be held at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Kasch Performance Hall of Dahl Chapel and Auditorium.

Four groups will sing at the concert, including the College's Colorful Voices of Praise, which will perform six songs, including "He Reigns Forever" and "Awesome God."

"Gospel music brings me peace when I'm going through hard times and it allows me to express my feelings to Jesus," said Tia Lofton '20 of Chicago, who serves as vice president of the 13-member Colorful Voices of Praise.

Two other Monmouth student groups will also sing - the Highlander Harmonizers and Ignite Worshipers. The Western Illinois University Gospel Choir will also perform.
