Monmouth Punches Postseason Ticket

Monmouth will return to the Midwest Conference Tournament for the second time in three years after punching their ticket Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 win over Grinnell.
After neither team found the net in the first half Kara-Jade Gordon put the Scots on the board with a Penalty Kick goal in the 54th minute. Jacie Reis then added the eventual game-winner three minutes later, scoring an unassisted goal for a 2-0 lead. Grinnell cut the margin in half in the 66th minute, but would score no more as Monmouth limited the Pioneers to seven shots while firing off 20, 12 on goal.
The Scots improved to 6-2 in the league with 18 points and sit in second place in the MWC. The squad will wrap up the regular season Nov. 2 at Ripon.
