Monmouth rolled to an 86-75 win over MacMurray Saturday night to open the season with a pair of wins on back-to-back nights.

The Scots hit nearly half their shots in the first 20 minutes to open a 43-27 halftime lead. MacMurray battled back in the second half but could only close the gap to 11 at 52-41 and 54-43 early in the final 20 minutes. Devin Yocum's layup with 9:18 to play stretched the lead to 66-49 and minutes later the lead grew to 71-52 on a Will Carius bucket in the lane. The Highlanders threatened to close Monmouth's lead to single digits in the final minutes but Jonathan Oradiegwu and Carius combined to hit four free throws to maintain the double digit lead.

Carius picked up his second double-double in as many nights with 21 points and 12 rebounds. D.J. Swift added a dozen points and Tyler Houston chipped in 10.

Monmouth travels to UW-Whitewater for an 8 p.m. game Friday.
