Monmouth's Gaden Named Semifinalist for William V. Campbell Trophy

Monmouth, IL (09/26/2019) — Monmouth's Clark Gaden (Chatham, Ill./Glenwood) has been selected as a semifinalist for the prestigious William V. Campbell Trophy presented by Mazda, which recognizes exemplary student-athletes.

A senior linebacker for the Scots, Gaden was among the group of 185 honorees from all NCAA and NAIA divisions. To qualify, nominees must be a senior or graduate student in the final year of eligibility with a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale. The selection committee also judges the student-athletes on football ability, leadership skills and citizenship.

Finalists for the award will be announced Oct. 30. Each will receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2019 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class, presented by Fidelity Investments. The finalists will then travel to New York City for the awards dinner on Dec. 10, where one finalist will be named the winner of the 30th Campbell Trophy and have his scholarship increased to $25,000.

A business and accounting major, Gaden is the son of Kevin and Jodi Gaden.
