Monmouth Swimming Sweeps Season's First MWC Awards

Monmouth, IL (10/22/2019) — Monmouth College made a splash to start the season as Preston Bocchi (Lakeland, Wash./Lakes) and Miranda Pasky (Paso Robles, Calif./Paso Robles) completed a sweep of the season's first Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Men's and Women's Performer of the Week awards.

One honor roll time and three wins were turned in by Bocchi while Pasky swam one honor roll time and was part of four first-place finishes as Monmouth opened their season with a double-dual sweep of Knox and North Central. The pair capped the meet with a win in the mixed 200 freestyle relay, teaming with Andrew Lee and Jaidlyn Sellers to swim a 1:40.74.

Individually, Bocchi won the 100 IM with an honor roll time of 58.37. Bocchi also was the first to finish in the 100 breaststroke where he won by six seconds after clocking a 1:03.86.

Pasky had opened the day teaming with Jaidlyn Sellers, Maggie Wingo and Lauren Fulscher to win the 200-yard medley relay in 2:00.28 - 10 seconds faster than the runners up. Pasky followed by clocking a Monmouth honor roll time of 1:08.39 to win the 100 IM. She also touched first in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:14.84.

A business major, Bocchi is the son of Paul and Holly Bocchi.

Pasky, an art and business major, is the daughter of Gary and Angela Pasky.
