More Lifetime Marks Fall for Scots' Track at Large Invite

Monmouth, IL (01/26/2020) — Competing at the 16-team St. Ambrose Track and Field Invitational Saturday afternoon, Monmouth College turned in more career marks as the men's team placed fourth and the women sixth.

The women's 60-meter dash again saw personal-bests fall in the prelims and finals. Cindy Ladner bettered her own PR from last week with an 8.09 in the prelims. She then bettered the mark in the finals, finishing fifth in 8.08. Kenzie Baker also improved on her lifetime mark in the event set last week, clocking an 8.11 in the finals to place eighth.

Alex Cutright also advanced his lifetime-best in the 60-meter hurdles. His PR of 8.75 in the prelims put him in the finals where he clocked an 8.80 to place third. Vanessa Caldwell placed fifth in the women's hurdles with a time of 9.61.

The throws group turned in seven, top four efforts that included four runner up finishes.

In the weight throw, Joe Krall launched the eighth-best throw in the nation at 58'8" for second place while Hannah McVey's sling of 48'10-3/4" earned her a runner up in the women's event. Drew Thaxton took fifth in the men's weight at 52'2-1/2" and Leigha Sebben earned sixth in the women's throw with a 46'11-1/2".

In the shot put ring, Kareema Lawal led a women's 2-3-4 finish with a heave of 39'8-1/2", the same mark as the winner. Lawal was awarded the runner up via a judge's decision. Sebben took third at 39'0-1/4" and Megan Gilstrap was fourth with a mark of 38'11-1/2". Thaxton placed second in the men's shot put where he threw the sphere 51' even, the 22nd-best effort nationally.

Monmouth's men's milers took three of the top six spots. Griff Morrill's 4:31.82 placed the junior third, nine seconds off the winning pace. Riley Dulin crossed in 4:32.71 to place fifth, a spot ahead of Tanner Heiple who finished in 4:34.84.

Stone Darrow ran the 21st fastest time nationally in the 200 where he clocked a third place time of 22.55. Jordan Peckham added a sixth-place finish in the women's 400, running a 1:01.34.

Austin Pfau tripled jumped 43'8" to take fourth in the event. Chandler Claudé and Clayton Schulenberg each landed at 42'6-3/4" to place sixth and seventh, respectively.

In the jumps freshman Reed Wilson improved on last week's debut in the pole vault. Reed cleared a PR of 14-2-3/4" to place sixth in the event. Aleeka Genztler's 4'11" mark in the women's high jump placed her sixth.

Ezzie Baltierra-Chavez and Arika Hofmann ran to a 6-7 finish in the 800. Baltierra-Chavez edged Hofmann at the finish with a 2:30.99. Hofmann crossed in 2:32.17. The tandem traded places in the mile where Hofmann took sixth in 5:33.23 and Baltierra-Chavez was seventh with a 5:35.79. Mik Moore and Carline Young were 8-9 in 5:37.22 and 5:39.68, respectively.

The Scots next travel to UW-Whitewater where the men will compete on Friday and the women Saturday.
