Morgan Bemis Ties for 1st at Iowa Wesleyan's Tiger Classic
Junior golfer cards an 82 on Tuesday
FORT MADISON, Iowa (03/31/2021) — Junior golfer Morgan Bemis (Alton, Illinois) tied for first at the Iowa Wesleyan Tiger Classic in Fort Madison, Iowa on Tuesday. Participating in the event as an individual, Bemis fired an 82 and tied for top honors with Teresa Diez Dorta of Iowa Wesleyan.
The one-round event took place at Sheaffer Memorial Golf Course with a par of 72. Bemis carded an 82 as she and Diez Dorta finished two strokes ahead of Simpson College's Emily Jansen. The event included 26 golfers representing nine different institutions.
On Sunday Bemis shot a 92 and finished in fourth place at the Knox College Spring Invite at Soangetaha Country Club. She began the 2021 season with a tie for 16th at the Lady Blue Invitational in Jacksonville with rounds of 83 and 94.
Last season she posted two top-5 finishes and three top-10s in seven events. As a freshman during the 2018-19 season she had one top 10. Bemis is the first Fighting Scots women's player to win an event since Haley Hoekstra won the Fighting Scot Invitational in September 2018.
