Multiple Scots Win Events at Home Track & Field Meet
MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/25/2025) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field hosted their first meet of 2025 on Friday night and turned in numerous top-10 performances in school history and multiple event wins.
MEN
Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) tied his PR to win the weight throw at 19.05m, the third-best throw in school history. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) took second at 17.98m with Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) in third at 16.98m and Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) in fourth at 16.44m. Both Orwig and Bryant set PR's in the event.
Toberman won the shot put with an indoor career-best 15.85, the ninth-best throw in MC history..Orwig took second at 14.75m and Anderson was fourth at 14.10m.
Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the 800m race in 1:55.84, just off his PR when he won the 2024 MWC Championship.
Freshman Ka'ni Carson (Lincoln, Illinois) won the 60m dash in 7.07 seconds and Da'von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) took second in 7.13. Carson's 7.06 time in the prelims is the ninth-fastest 60m run in school history.
Matthew Bright (Macomb, Illinois) took second in the pole vault at 3.75m.
Tashawn Ruffin (Bloomington, Illinois) won the triple jump at 12.86m and he took third in the long jump at 6.12m. James Gustafson (Chicago, Illinois) and Luke Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) tied for third in the high jump at 1.65m. .
Freshman Janius Taylor (Lakeland, Florida) took second in the 200m race in 22.79 seconds
The 4x400m relay team of Patterson, Newton, Carson and Outlaw won the final race of the night by three seconds with a time of 3:25.92
The 4x200m relay team of Taylor, Patterson, Carson and Outlaw took second in 1:30.33.
WOMEN
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) took second in the weight throw with a PR of 17.95m, the second-best throw in school history. Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) took third at 15.30m. Boley won the shot put with a PR throw of 13.62, the third-best indoor shot put in MC history.
Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) won the pole vault with an indoor PR of 3.40m, Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) was second at 2.90m and Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) was fourth at 2.75m.
Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) was third in the long jump at 5.01m. Rexroat was second in the triple jump at 10.09m and Rusk was fourth at 9.60m.
Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois) was third in the 60m in 8.1 seconds. Natalie Gonzalez (Galesburg, Illinois) was fourth in the 60m hurdles in 11.82 seconds.
Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) was third in the 3000m with a PR time of 11:35.50.
The 4x200m relay team of Rusk, Moore-Bell, Rexroat and Gonzalez took second in a time of 1:54.34.

The Scots head to Iowa next Saturday for the Grinnell Invitational, hosted by Grinnell College. The meet starts at 10:00 a.m. The next home meet is the Roger Haynes Invitational on Saturday, Feb, 15. .
