Newman Named D3Football Team of the Week

Newman is Monmouth's third selection in 2025

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/14/2025) — Monmouth College sophomore wide receiver Chase Newman (Morrison, Illinois) was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week on Tuesday. Newman, who was named Midwest Conference Offensive Performer of the Week on Monday, had a record-setting performance against Illinois College on Saturday.

Newman hauled in a career-high 13 receptions for a school record 301 yards. He also tied the single-game record with four touchdowns and set a new school record with a 98-yard touchdown reception.

Newman is the third Monmouth player named to the D3football.com Team of the Week this year, marking the second-most in school history,. The 2021 team had four selections while this year's team joins 2023, 2019, 2007 and 2005 with three. Derek Chandler (Monmouth, Illinois) and Mylee Hansen (Pekin, Illinois) were the other two selections this season, both on special teams.

Newman is the first offensive player selected for Monmouth since Nate Thornton made it as a WR after the week 1 game of the 2023 season. The Fighting Scots (4-1, 4-0) will host Cornell at 2 p.m. on Saturday for Homecoming.
