Newton Wins 800m as Toberman, Boley Climb Charts

Scots set 29 career highs at Beloit Relays

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/14/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams competed at the Beloit Relays on Saturday in Wisconsin. The Scots grabbed one individual title, two top-10 performances in school history and nearly 30 career highs. No PDF results were provided.

Men
The Monmouth title on the day belonged to Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) in the 800m. Newton ran 1:58.36 to win by more than two seconds.

Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) delivered the third-best hammer throw in school history as he finished second at 54.31m, a career high by nearly half a meter. He also finished second in the discus with a career-high throw of 45.96m and third in the shot put with a career-best 14.89m.

Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) was fifth in the javelin at 45.00m and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) was sixth in the shot put at 13.60m.

Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedre, Florida) finished fifth in the 200m race with a career-best 23.12. He teamed with Newton, Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) and Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) to finish fifth in the 4x400m relay at 3:31.82.

Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) delivered the 10th best hammer throw in school history as she finished second at 47.94m. She also finished third in the discus at 43.12m and sixth in the shot put at 12.09m.

Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was right behind Boley in the hammer at 46.28m for a third-place finish. Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took fifth in the shot put at 12.23m while Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) was sixth in the hammer at 43.13m.

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) was third in the 100m dash at 12.68 seconds and fifth in the 200m race at 27.12m. Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) and Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) tied for fifth in the pole vault at 2.91m while Rexroat was seventh in the javelin at 28.17m.

The Scots head to Rock Island, Illinois next weekend for the Augustana Meet of Champions.
