Orwig, Braun Named MWC Performer of the Week
MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/27/2026) — Monmouth College senior track and field throwers Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) were named Midwest Conference Field Performers of the Week on Tuesday. This is Braun's second award of the indoor season and Orwig's honor is the first for the men's team this season.
Orwig won the weight throw at Saturday's Midwest Invitational in Monmouth with a season-best throw of 17.20m. His throw ranks second in the MWC this season and 31st nationally for all D3 throwers. He also placed fifth in the shot put at 13.56m on Saturday.
Braun led a 1-2-3-4 Monmouth finish in the shot put with a season best 12.71m.That throw ranks first in the MWC this season 29th nationally. She also threw 14.89m in the weight throw to finish second on Saturday. That throw ranks third in the MWC this season.
The Scots will compete at the Grinnell Invitational on Saturday in Grinnell, iowa. The next home meet is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 14.
