Palazzolo, Kistler Score in 2-0 Monmouth Win
Scots post second straight shutout
MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/23/2026) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team won again on Wednesday as they knocked off Greenville University 2-0. The Fighting Scots (5-1) scored in both halves to win the non-conference game with another clean sheet.
Freshman Cadence Covert (Peoria, Illinois) made a save in the 12th minute and another shot by the Panthers was blocked. In the 24th minute, freshman Lily Palazzolo (Washington, Michigan) scored her second goal of the season, unassisted, for the 1-0 Monmouth lead. Covert made two more saves in the first half and Greenville shot wide in the closing moments.
Covert made a save early in the second half before sophomore Morgan Kistler (Kokomo, Indiana) doubled the lead. Kistler's goal in the 60th minute was assisted by Jackie Contreras (Peoria, Illinois)
The Panthers turned up the pressure for the final 30 minutes. Covert made a save and another shot sailed wide left. After a Greenville corner kick and two Covert saves, the hosts were called for offsides. They had another corner with 10 minutes to play but the Scots cleared the ball and held on for the 2-0 win.
MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Covert made six saves in the shutout ... In addition to Covert, Ali Denton (Saint Peters, Missouri), Ali Barnum (Pekin, Illinois) and Yoselim Hernandez (Monmouth, Illinois) played all 90 minutes ... Kistler has 13 career goals and 31 points ... She leads the Scots with four goals this season ... Contreras has eight career assists, the most by any current Scots player ... The Panthers outshot the Scots 27-5 and shots on goal were 6-2 ... Monmouth leads the all-time series 5-1-1 with three straight wins ... The teams hadn't met since 2019 ... The Scots return home to face MWC opponent Lawrence at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
