Peckham, Turner Lead Scots at Indoor Invite
Scots finish night with relay wins
MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/12/2022) — The Monmouth College track and field teams hosted the Fighting Scot Invite on Friday night with a handful of individual wins and relay wins.
Jordan Peckham (Farmington, Illinois) and Linsey Turner (Elburn, Illinois) both won two individual events and took part in winning relays. Peckham won the 200m race in 26.40 and took the 400m race in 59.08. Turner won the pole vault at 3.04m and then won the triple jump at 10.13m. This was the first time she has competed in the triple jump since high school. Both Peckham and Turner ran in the victorious 4x200m relay, alongside Alyssa Villarreal (Galesburg, Illinois) and Nicole Hoyer (Montgomery, Illinois). Peckham ran the first leg of the winning 4x400m relay team with Kara Fisher (Monmouth, Illinois), Mik Moore (Washington, Illinois) and Arika Hofmann (Monmouth, Illinois).
On the men's side, the Scots won the 4x400m relay, the final race of the night. Alexander Brock (Lexington, Illinois) took the first leg and handed the baton to Riley Dulin (Monmouth, Illinois). Dulin took the lead and gave way to Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) before Patrick Shepherd (Peoria, Illinois) sprinted across the line in first place. Shepherd also took second place in the 200m race in 23.33 while Dulin was second in the 800m race with an indoor personal best of 1:58.41. Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) took second in the weight throw at 16.28m while Shawn Bingham Jr. (Brooksville, Florida) was second in the triple jump at 12.23m
Hofmann took second in the women's 800 at 2:30.83 while Fisher was second in the mile at 5:38.97. Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) was second in the high jump at 1.49m and Ashley Grothaus (Fenton, Missouri) took second in the pole vault at 2.89m. Kareema Lawal (Aurora, Illinois) got second place in the weight throw with a personal best 16.15m.
The Scots will compete next Friday at the Hilltop Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois.
