Personal-Bests for Scots in Home Dual with Vikings
Monmouth, IL (11/23/2019) — Monmouth turned in five personal-bests and won six events in Friday's home dual with Augustana.
The Scots dropped both sides of the dual meet, but also dropped times for three of their winning swims. Jaidlyn Sellers led the women's charge cutting three seconds off her previous personal best in the 100-yard backstroke. The freshman clocked a new PR and Monmouth honor roll time of 1:02.82 to touch just ahead of teammate Ashling Staunton who swam a PR of 1:04.30 for a runner up finish. Sellers also swam to a second-place finish in the 50 free with a 25.86, four-tenths back of the winner.
Tyler Davis, Joseph Addison and Becca Waxberg turned in the Scots' other lifetime-best swims. Davis and Addison took first in their PR events. Davis touched first in the 1000 free in 10:42.11 to win by nearly 20 seconds. Addison posted a 2:00.74 in the 200 individual medley for a nearly five second win. Waxberg's PR of 1:03.83 in the 100 butterfly placed her second, less than five-tenths off the winning pace.
Preston Bocchi took a pair of wins for the men. The junior won the 50 free in 22.02 and was the first to finish in the 100 back with a 55.50.
Rik Doornenbal and Kyle Jones rounded out the winning swims. Doornenbal was the fastest in the 500 free with a 5:03.92 and Jones touched first in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:02.25.
Marissa Logan, Kaitlyn Fox and Miranda Pasky each took runner up honors to round out the women's top finishers. Logan clocked a 12:14.69 in the 1000 free, Fox touched in 6:11.27 in the 500 free and Logan posted a 1:14.39 in the 100 breaststroke.
The Scots next travel to the two-day Grinnell Pioneer Classic on Dec. 6-7.
