Powers Named MWC Softball Position Player of the Week
MONMOUTH, Ill. (03/02/2026) — Monmouth College junior Savannah Powers (Volo, Illinois) was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week for softball on Monday.
Powers had a great start to the Monmouth season with nine RBI in her first three games. Powers hit her first career home run in game 1 at Blackburn on Saturday, driving in two runs and scoring twice. In game two she had a grand slam and an RBI single to finish 2-for-4 with two more runs scored and four RBI.
In the first game Sunday against Webster, Powers drove in three more runs with a double. She added a single in game 2. Overall, Powers was 5--for-17 with three extra base hits, 2 HR, 9 RBI and four runs scored.
Powers is Monmouth's first positional player of the week in softball since Becca Gallis on March 13, 2018. Pitcher Abby Leber was named Pitcher of the Week in both 2023 and 2022.
The Scots head to Florida where they will play eight games between March 8-12. They will face Marietta and Nebraska Wesleyan on Sunday at the USSSA Space Coast Facility. The home opener is a DH against Loras at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 21.
