Rain Delay, Wet Cross Country Course Greet Scots at Dan Huston Invitational
Monmouth, IL (10/06/2019) — Storms created havoc in the Midwest Saturday and the Monmouth College cross country trip to the Dan Huston Invitational hosted by Wartburg College didn't escape the weather. Following a more than two-hour delay, the Monmouth women ran to a seventh place finish and the men 11th.
Caitlyn Allen led the Scots for the first time this season, touring the 6K course in 24:28.0, finishing 25th. Caroline Young placed 42nd in the field of nearly 225 runners, clocking a 24:51.4. Monmouth then tightened their pack, led by Arika Hofmann (25:16.9), Julia Sterr (25:29:00) and Mike Moore (25:32.8). The Scots rounded out their scoring with Kara Fisher (26:57.6) and Teagan McKenna (29:50.5).
Griff Morrill led the men's group on the 8K course, placing 30th in the field of nearly 300 runners, clocking a 27:16.2. Riley Dulin was next in line at 28:09.0, followed by Tanner Heiple's 29:18.3. A 29:55.5 for Alex Urbina brought up the Scots' lower part of the order, just ahead of Mike Bersell (30:09.0). C.J. Bonifer finished in 30:17.1 and Carlos Miranda completed the scoring seven with a time of 30:58.5.
The Scots will compete next on Oct. 18 at the Bradley Pink Invitational in Peoria.
