Scots' Men Making the Beginnings of a Winning Streak
A day after a four-goal outburst, the Monmouth College men's soccer team put three on the boards Saturday in a 3-1 win over Lakeland in a match played in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Duh Thang punched in two goals as the Scots won their second straight on the road. Thang broke the ice with an unassisted score in the 31st minute, and two minutes later Mario Sanchez found the back of the net.
Lakeland closed the gap in the 67th minute to make it 2-1, but the Scots responded on Thang's second tally of the day to put Monmouth up 3-1 with five minutes to play.
The Scots outshot Lakeland 14-6, putting nine shots on goal. Marcos Garibay earned the win in goal with a five-save effort over the 90 minutes.
Monmouth returns home Wednesday to host Rockford in a 4 p.m. contest.
