Monmouth fired off a school-record 76 shots as Liam Meyer scored a hat trick and Thomas Van Alstine a hat trick plus one to propel the Scots to their first 2-0 start in program history with Friday night's 11-4 win at Carroll.

The Scots fired off 28 first quarter shots and quickly found the cage. Van Alstine wasted little time in putting the Scots on top, scoring just 25 seconds after the opening faceoff. Meyer followed three minutes later as Monmouth opened with six unanswered goals, the first five from five different players. Van Alstine had registered his hat trick by halftime when the Scots held a 7-2 lead. The senior added his fourth in the fourth period just seconds before Chase Cranford found his second score.

Freshmen Gordon Kiesgen gave the Scots the faceoff edge 15-for-19 as Monmouth also won the ground ball battle 57-29.

Monmouth travels to Clarke University for a 5:30 p.m. faceoff on Tuesday.
