Scots' Swimmers Open Season with Double Dual Wins
Monmouth, IL (10/20/2019) — Monmouth won a combined 19 of a possible 25 events in their season-opener Saturday, defeating Knox College and North Central College in a Homecoming double dual.
Swimming on Homecoming weekend, the men's and women's teams won by large margins and posted a number of honor roll times. Women's newcomer Jaidlyn Sellers posted a pair of honor roll times in her debut. Sellers touched first in the 50-yard backstroke in 30.49 and clocked a winning 1:05.94 in the 100 back.
Two wins and one honor roll mark were each turned in by Preston Bocchi and Miranda Pasky. Bocchi won the 100 IM in an honor roll time of 58.37 to go with a win in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.86). Pasky also clocked an honor roll mark in the 100 IM, touching first in 1:08.39. She was also the first to finish in the 100 breast (1:14.84).
Other double winners included Tyler Davis in the 200 (1:53.88) and 100 freestyle (51.99) events; Rik Doornenbal in the 50 breast (32.02) and 500 free (5:23.83); Dylan Chiaro in the 100 butterfly (59.42) and 100 back (1:06.59); and Marissa Logan in the 200 (2:17.03) and 500 freestyles (6:17.10).
Monmouth also took a pair of wins in the relays where Sellers and Pasky teamed with Maggie Wingo and Lauren Fulscher to touch first in the 200 medley relay with a 2:00.28. The meet concluded with Monmouth's 200 mixed medley relay when Andrew Lee, Sellers, Pasky and Bocchi clocked a 1:40.74.
The Scots travel to Bloomington Oct. 26 for the annual Halloween Invitational.
