Scots and Dutch Play to a Draw

by Dan Nolan

Monmouth, IL (09/03/2019) — Monmouth scored first, but neither team could gain much of an edge Monday night when the Scots and the Central College Dutch battled to a 1-1 double overtime draw.

Hadyn DeLeeuw found Devin Cross for a Scots' score before three minutes had elapsed to give Monmouth an early lead. Monmouth kept Central out of the net until the 41st minutes when the Dutch knotted the score at one each.

The teams combined for 14 second half shots, but none found the net as the match moved into the first overtime. The defenses ruled in the first extra session as Monmouth manages the only shot in the frame. Central fired off five shots in the final OT period, putting just one on goal that was stoned by goalkeeper Kensey Arlt, one of five saves in the game.

Monmouth continues their road trip this weekend with a Friday contest at Concordia Chicago and a Sunday jaunt to Buena Vista.
