Scots Begin Augie Meet with Success

MONMOUTH ,Ill. (04/20/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams began the Augustana Meet of Champions on Friday. The only three events for the Scots on Friday were the discus, javelin and 10,000m. The other events will all be on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m.

Men
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) finished fifth in the discus with a career-best throw of 46.81m. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) returned to action with a 24th place finish at 40.13m, just ahead of Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) who had a PR of 39.81m.

Colton Hutson (Mount Pleasant, Iowa) was eighth in the javelin at 43.32m with Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) in 12th.

As Monmouth's only runner on Friday, William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) ran the 10,000m for the first time this season. He finished 12th in 34:25.76, a PR by almost four minutes.

Women
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) took fourth place in the discus at 42.63m, Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) took fifth at 41.74m

Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) took eighth in the javelin with a career-best throw of 30.65m. Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois), Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) and Abbie Johnson (LaHarpe, Illinois) also finished in the top 25.

The Scots head back to Rock Island for the rest of the meet on Saturday.
