Scots Cross Country Competes at Bradley Pink Classic

Seven Scots set new season or career highs

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/14/2022) — The Monmouth College cross country teams competed in the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday afternoon at Newman Golf Course in Peoria. The women's 6K was first, followed by the men's 8K, the last regular season race for both teams. In total, seven Scots runners established either a new season-best or a new career-best on Friday.

TEAM BREAKDOWNS
In the Men's "White Race" the Scots finished 16th as a team, competing against squads from Divisions I, II and III plus Junior College squads. The Scots scored 419 points while Grand Valley State won the White Race with 22 points, outpacing host Bradley by 70. The Red Race was won by Loyola-Chicago, with Wichita State in second.

On the women's side, the Scots finished 20th in the White Race, again won by Grand Valley State with 24 points. The Scots had 573 points. The women's Red Race was won by Northwestern, with Illinois finishing second.

INDIVIDUAL BREAKDOWNS - MEN
William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) led the men's team with a 27:26.4, just two seconds off his season and career bests. Plumley finished 79th overall.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) finished 104th in 28:02.8, less than three seconds off his career best set on October 1.

Neo Colter (Geneseo, Illinois) finished 110th in 28:23.3, a season best for the junior.

Eli Perry (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) finished 148th in 30:34.7. The freshman shattered his season and career best time by more than three minutes.

Alex Urbina (Round Lake Beach, Illinois) finished 156th in 31:08.9 and Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) finished 161st in 31:32.9. Both were within 10 seconds of their season-best time from October 1.

Harrison Hicks (Spring Grove, Illinois) finished 172nd in 33:44.2 and Brendan Jones (Mascoutah, Illinois) finished 175th in a season-best 34:18.0

INDIVIDUAL BREAKDOWNS - WOMEN

Gabriela Peterson (Southwick, Massachusetts) was the top finisher on the women's side in 93rd place. She ran 24:55.5, beating her previous career best by 11 seconds and setting a new career-best for the second straight race.

Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) was 163rd in 28:26.1, a new season-best by nine seconds.

Skylar Garey (Metamora, Illinois) finished 168th in a career-best 29:15.4. She took nearly 16 seconds off her career best from October 1.

Kailey Cronin (Elgin, Illinois) ran 35:02.4 for 183rd place and Lexi Shields (Viola, Illinois) was 184th with a season-best 35:43.1. Shields shaved 42 seconds off her best time of the season.

Both teams have next weekend off before hosting the Midwest Conference Championships on Saturday Oct. 29. The women's race at Gibson Woods Golf Course begins at 11 am with the men's race at Noon.
