Scots Drop Season Finale at IC

Hoy Plays 100th Career Game

MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/22/2026) — The Monmouth College women's basketball team ended their season with an 82-61 loss at Illinois College on Saturday. The Fighting Scots (8-17, 4-12) finished in seventh place in the Midwest Conference after sweeping Beloit and Lake Forest.

IC scored the first nine points of the game before Kynlee Stearns (Gilson, Illinois) made a layup. The hosts pushed the lead to 16-2 and led 26-7 after the first quarter.

Tiah Riggs (Vincennes, Indiana) scored in the second quarter before IC went up by 20 and Brooklyn Sellers (Freeport, Illinois) made a pair of free throws. Buckets by Riggs and Stearns plus a free throw by Allie Hoy (Woodland, Illinois) cut the lead to 13. Sellers scored the next five before IC got the lead back to 10 at 39-29 to end the half.

Stearns, Riggs and Sellers each scored to start the second half and Monmouth trailed by just four at 41-37. However, IC went on a 14-5 run to lead by 13 when Hannah Peel (Gladwin, MIchigan) scored. The Lady Blues scored the final seven points of the quarter and took a 62-45 lead into the fourth.

Averi Rangel (Moline, Illinois) splashed a 3-pointer early in the fourth but IC pushed the lead to 22 at 70-48. After Riggs and Stearns scored, IC put six up to lead 76-51. Jamaica Walker (Mobile, Alabama) scored and Rangel hit a 3-pointer. Peel converted a 3-point play and Stearns made two free throws before IC finished the scoring for the 82-61 win.

Stearns led the Scots with 12 points while Sellers had 11 and Riggs added 10. Sellers also had 10 rebounds for a double double and Stearns added six. Sellers led the Scots with three assists and a block while Stearns had three steals.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: Stearns has a team-best 17 games with at least 10 points, including eight in a row ... Stearns reached 100 career steals and finished with 101 ... Sellers tied he career high in scoring and set a new career high in rebounds ... She also posted her first Monmouth career double-double ... Rangel moved into a tie for seventh on the 3-pointers attempted career list, matching Kathleen Forest with 308 ... Hoy moved into a tie for second place with Tarae Warner and Marla Willard on the career games played list with 100, one behind the record set by Becca Gallis 2016-20 ... Illinois College won the December matchup 84-58 and have won eight straight to lead the series 48-44.
