Scots Land Three on Tennis All-Conference Teams

Shie brothers, Hammond honored

MONMOUTH, Ill. (05/12/2021) — The Midwest Conference announced the Men's and Women's All-Conference Tennis teams on Wednesday and three Monmouth College players were honored. Men's players Joseph Shie (Davenport, Iowa) and Andrew Shie (Davenport, Illinois) were named to the All-South team as was women's player Isabel Hammond (Germantown Hills, Illinois).

Joseph Shie, a senior, went 7-2 at #1 singles on the season with a 4-2 mark in MWC play. At No. 1 doubles he teamed with Zach Harris (Mascoutah, Illinois) to go 5-4 overall, 3-3 in conference play.

Andrew Shie played behind his brother at #2 singles going 4-5 overall, 1-5 in MWC play. The junior teamed with Brendan Guenther (Pekin, Illinois) at #2 doubles to go 5-4 overall, 4-2 in conference play.

Hammond, a sophomore, played at #3 singles for the Scots this season going 2-3 to lead the team in singles wins. She teamed with Emily Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) to go 1-4 at #2 doubles.

In the absence of a regular conference tournament, MWC All-Conference teams were selected by the coaches this season. In a normal year the First-Team selections are automatically the conference champions at each singles and doubles flights with the runners up composing the Second Team.
