For the second straight year, it will be a Monmouth vs. Ripon matchup for the Midwest Conference Tournament title and NCAA berth after the Scots downed Cornell 61-47 and Ripon clipped Knox 68-56 in Friday night's semifinals at Ripon.

The Scots trailed 20-10 after the first quarter, but closed the gap in the second period to trail 26-22 at the half. Led by Yvonne Ornelas' 4-of-8 shooting from 3-point range, the Scots rallied in the third period, outscoring the Rams 27-10 to take a 49-36 lead into the fourth quarter.

Monmouth stayed hot in the final 10 minutes and held the Rams at bay despite a cool night from the free throw line. A 75 percent shooting team from the line, the Scots hit just nine of their 17 attempts, but Cornell couldn't cash in shooting 17-of-63 from the floor.

Carley Turnbull paced Monmouth's scoring with 17 points, followed by Ornelas and Tarae Warner with 12 each. Jordan Kintigh cleaned the glass for the Scots pulling down 12 rebounds to give Monmouth a 46-34 edge on the boards.

Second seeded Monmouth and top seeded Ripon will tip off for the MWC tournament title Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. Live video streaming of the game is available on the MonmouthScots.com website.
