Scots Surge in Final 22 Minutes for Season Opening Win

Locked in a close game through the first 18 minutes Monmouth ran by Eureka 83-71 as Tyler Houston's 3-pointer sparked the Scots' 8-0 run in the final two minutes of the first half. Newcomer Dee Hyler followed with another three and Will Carius capped the run with a layup to give the Scots a 38-30 halftime lead.

Monmouth stretched the lead to 15 at 46-31 in the first 90 seconds of the second half when Hyler hit another 3-ball followed by Justin Batterton's layup and one more 3-pointer from Houston. The Scots maintained a double digit lead througout the second half as Carius pumped in a dozen of his team-high 20 points in the final 20 minutes to go with 17 boards. Batterton added his own double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. D.J. Swift added 19 points, and Hyler and Houston 10 each.

The Scots host MacMurray Saturday night at 5:30 in Glennie Gym.
