Scots Swimmers Finish Third at Simpson Relay Meet

MONMOUTH, Ill (10/20/2024) — The Monmouth College men's and women's swim teams got their seasons underway on Saturday with the Simpson Relay Meet in Indianola, Iowa. Both teams finished third in the unique meet that featured only relays.

WOMEN
The women pulled a second-place finish in the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay as freshmen Allie Warren (Galesburg, Illinois), and Lea Schmitt (Rockford, Illinois) teamed with sophomore newcomer Addie Smith (Monmouth, Illinois) in 3:42.07.

Cally Tate (Monmouth, Illinois) teamed with Schmitt, freshman Caitlyn Stewart (Monmouth, Illinois) and Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois) to finish third in the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:23.94.

Stewart, Smith, Aiden Bach (Stetsonville, Wisconsin) and Fitch swam 4:39.84 to finish third in their heat of the 400 yard medley relay

Warren, Claire LaBadie (Griffith, Indiana), Smith and Fitch earned six points with a fourth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:51.09.

MEN
Freshman Bucket Youvan (Rochester, Indiana), Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois), Luke Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) and Tariq McLarty (South Holland, Illinois) finished second in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:31.14.

Kody Coyne (Bluffton, Indiana), freshman Calvin Wellman (San Antonio, Texas) and Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) finished third in the 3x100 yard breaststroke relay in 3:30.37.

Freshman Jordan Bridgford (Kapolei, Hawai'i), Eli Wills (Blue Springs, Missouri), Coyne and Kennon finished fourth in the 400 yard medley relay heat with a time of 4:05.61.

Wills, McLarty and Kennon took fourth in the 3x100 yard butterfly relay with a time of 2:53.06. Bridgford, Foster, Main and McLarty were fourth in their heat in 4:05.22.

Wills, Foster, Youvan and Kennon took fourth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:28.61

The Scots are back in action with the home opener on Friday. The Scots will host Augustana with the meet starting at 5 p.m.
