A month and a half after meeting at the Knox Invitational, Monmouth and Central met for a rematch Friday night at the Augustana Pumpkin Bash where the Scots took the opening set, but no more in a 3-1 loss to the Dutch.

Central had handed the Scots a 3-0 loss in September and Monmouth looked to reverse the score early with a 25-23 Set 1 win. Trailing early, the Scots rallied from a 7-2 deficit to take their first set of the rematch. The Dutch outlasted Monmouth 27-25 in Set 2 and claimed the final two sets by identical 25-18 scores. Monmouth led Set 4, 14-13 before Central rolled off nine straight points to break open a close game.

The loss offset an 11-kill night by Riley Cook who hit .265 in the contest. Lauren Sperry added five kills and Loryn Beal four.

Monmouth resumes play Saturday meeting Nebraska Wesleyan in a noon contest before closing the season with a 2 p.m. match against Augustana.
