Monmouth rallied in both matches at Saturday's Baden Invitational in St. Louis, but came up short on the road trip.

The Scots fell behind 2-0 in their opening match with the University of Dallas, but came back to post 25-22, 25-23 wins in Sets 3 and 4. Riley Cook and Lauren Sperry combined on a block of Dallas to end Set 3 and Megan Gilstrap's final kill in Set 4 evened the match at 2-all. Dallas climbed out to a four-point lead in Set 5 and held on for a 15-9 win, taking the match 3-2 to offset a pair of 14-kill efforts by Cook and Ashley Farris. Sperry added 13 winners.

Host Washington University ran by the Scots 3-0 in Monmouth's final match. The Bears used runs in each of the first two sets before the Scots stayed close in Set 3, eventually dropping a 25-20 decision.

Monmouth travels to Iowa Wesleyan Tuesday and will restart Midwest Conference play Friday at Lake Forest.
