Scots Win Multiple Events at Home Meet

MONMOUTH, Ill. (01/20/2024) — The Monmouth College track and field teams hosted the Midwest Invitational on Saturday

WOMEN
Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) won the shot put and the weight throw. She threw 14.78m in the weight with Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) in third place at 13.37m. In the shot put she threw 12.21m with Gracie Gibbons (Altona, Illinois) in third at 11.46m

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) won the 60m dash in a career best 8.21 seconds with Tayler Raska (Galesburg, Illinois) in fourth at 8.67. Lindsay Eaton (Danvers, Illinois) was second in the 800m run with a time of 2:44.50.

Carina Engst (Bloomington, Illinois) won the 400m with a time of 1.06.81 and Danielle Johnson (Annawan, Illinois) was third in 1:09.18.

Makaiha Moore-Bell (Knoxville, Illinois) won the 200m dash in 28.38 with Ally Celus (Annawan, Illinois) in second at 28.82 and Raska in third at 29.14.

Rusk also won the long jump at 5.13m with Emma Crofton (Neponset, Illinois) in second at 4.92m and Bethany Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) in fourth at 4.20m.

Miranda Hursey (Hanna City, Illinois) led a Monmouth sweep in the pole vault with a season-best 3.11m. Delaney Rexroat (Monmouth, Illinois) and Megan Dailey (Pendleton, Indiana) both cleared 2.66m

Engst finished second in the triple jump at 10.12m. Crofton was third at 9.95m with Rexroat in fourth at 9.94m.

Lauren Anderson (Cambridge, Illinois) was third in the high jump at 1.43m with Allen in fourth at 1.33m, Samantha Costello (Morris, Illinois) was third in the mile at 6:04.40.

MEN
Caleb Toberman (Clifton, Illinois) won the weight throw with a season-best 17.79m. Shane Anderson (Lisle, Illinois) was second at 17.64m.

Toberman also won the shot put with a season-best 14.90m. Anderson was third at 13.10m and Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) was fourth at 13.07m.

Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) won the 60m dash in 7.21 seconds with Lane Grice (East Galesburg, Illinois) in third at 7.54 and Colton Hutson (Mount Pleasant, Iowa) in fourth at 7.66.

Patrick Curry Jr. (Chicago, Illinois) won the 400m dash in 53.06. Xavier Camper (Grayslake, Illinois) was second in 53.22 and Eli Perry (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) was third in 55.57.

Eli Newton (Dallas City, Illinois) won the 800m run with a career-best 1:57,37. Braden Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) was third in 2:11.59 and Jon Brauman (Palatka, Florida) was fourth in 2:13.06.

Riley Bernas (Aurora, Illinois) won the pole vault at 3.55m with Alex Mahar (Atascadeo, California) in second place.

Mikey Eiker (Galesburg, Illinois) won the long jump at 5.92m with Mahar in third at 5.45m. Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) won the high jump at 1.75m with Joey Twardowski (Mark, Illinois) in third at 1.65m.

Morse was second in the 200m dash with a time of 24.58, Grice was third in 25.13 and Hutson was fourth in 25.48.

Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) was third in the mile at 4:56.45 and William Plumley (Geneseo, Illinois) was fourth in 5:00.16.

The Scots will be at the Grinnell Invitational next Saturday with an 11 a.m. start.
