Scots Win Seven Events at Grinnell's Dick Young Classic

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/12/2026) — The Monmouth College men's and women's track and field teams competed at Grinnell's Dick Young Classic on Saturday.

WOMEN

Maddie Rusk (Annawan, Illinois) won the 100m race in a season-best 12.73 seconds, She also won the 200m race in 26.68 seconds.

Kayla Braun (Evansville, Illinois) won the shot put at 13.37m, finished third in the discus at 38.43m and was fifth at 43.28m in the hammer.

Jillian Toth (El Paso, Illinois) was second in the hammer throw at 50.48m, a new season best.

Chloe Allen (Monmouth, Illinois) placed fifth in the triple jump at 8.63m.

MEN

Logan Morse (Yates City, Illinois) won the high jump with a season-best 1.90m and
Patrick Curry (Chicago, Illinois) was fourth with a season-best 1.80m. Curry finished second in the 400m race in 51.93 seconds with Morse in fourth at 52.50.

Blake Orwig (Wyoming, Illinois) won the hammer throw at 49.76m with Gunner Bryant (Curryville, Missouri) in fourth at 47.49m. Bryant won the shot put with an outdoor PR of 14.59m and was fifth in the discus at 40.09m, a season best. Dame Thioubou (Monmouth, Illinois) was third in the shot put at 13.45m.

Fernando Avila Rubio (Alpha, Illinois) won the 3000m steeplechase in 10:10.43 with Xander Stoub (Palos Heights, Illinois) in third at 10:38.63 as both ran personal bests in the event.

Damone Johnson (Macomb, Illinois) was second in the triple jump at 12.03m. Luke Reavis (Buena Vista, Colorado) took second in the javelin at 43.72m. Johnny York (Elmwood, Illinois) was third in the long jump at 6.39m. Lane Grice (East Galesburg, Illinois) was third in the pole vault at 3.50m.

The men's 4x400m relay team of Morse, Maddux Clark (Monmouth, Illinois), Andrew Peterson (Galesburg, Illinois) and Da'Von Patterson (Ponte Vedra, Florida) finished third in 3:31.80.

NEXT UP:
The Scots return to Rock Island next weekend for the two-day Augustana Meet of Champions.
