Kara-Jade Gordon scored Monmouth's first and last goals on her way to an eight-goal game in the Scots' 13-11 win at Illinois Tech Saturday.

The Scarlet Hawks got on the board first, but Gordon answered with back-to-back goals minutes apart. Neither team could open a margin, but did open up the second half scoring after entering halftime with Monmouth leading 5-4.

Illinois Tech scored the first two goals of the second half, but the Scots reclaimed a 7-6 lead when Amanda Green assisted on back-to-back goals from Gordon and McKenzie DeVilder. IT countered to knot the game a minute later before the Scots went on a three-goal binge from MacKenzie Holmes, Gordon and Aspen Chadderdon for a 10-7 advantage with nearly 20 minutes left.

Monmouth's defense held behind a 15-save effort from Olivia Matlock while the offense punched in three more goals to log the season's first Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference victory.

The Scots return home to host Marian in a noon start on Sat., Mar. 14.
