Seipold Makes Six Saves as Scots Draw Grinnell

by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (10/01/2025) — The Monmouth College women's soccer team remained unbeaten in Midwest Conference play with a 0-0 draw at Grinnell College on Tuesday. The Fighting Scots (5-3-2, 1-0-1) have picked up points from their first two conference games for the second straight season.

"Grinnell is going to put you through a 90 minute grinder and i felt like we handled that really well, especially on the road," said head coach Lucas Henderson. "Our back line had a lot of work to do and showed a lot of resolve and Izzy came up big and stayed composed throughout."

Goalkeeper Izzy Seipold (Peoria, Illinois) made two saves in the first 10 minutes in her first career MWC game on the road. Monmouth's first good chance came in the 15th minute when they won a free kick but the resulting shot by Jackie Contreras (Peoria, Illinois) was saved. Seipold made another save with seven minutes left in the half and the game went into the break scoreless.

Seipold made a save early in the second half and Mariah Hobson (Princeton, Illinois) had her shot blocked by a defender. The Scots pressed for the opening goal but Natalie Morrow (Silvis, Illinois) shot wide left in the 65th minute and Hobson had a shot saved with 10 minutes to play.

Seipold made another save with five minutes to play and Grinnell's last chance to score was called off due to offsides. Monmouth put the ball into the box in the final 30 seconds but the Pioneers cleared it away with a header and the game ended 0-0.
