MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/19/2023) — After the second of three days at the Midwest Conference Swimming and Diving Championships, the Monmouth College women's team remains in seventh place while the men are now in eighth place.

For the second time in as many days, senior Jaidlyn Sellers (Tremont, Illinois) set a school record. On Saturday, she lowered her own record twice in the 100 backstroke. Last year she set the record at the MWC Championships with a time of 1:00.25. Saturday, Sellers swam 1:00.23 in the prelims to qualify for the eight-woman finals. In the finals she lowered the record again, finishing third in the conference with a time of 59.54.

Sellers also teamed up with Mady Gaus (Herscher, Illinois), Andrew Tapia (Merrillville, Indiana) and Lauren Fulscher (Moline, Illinois) to finish sixth in the 200 medley relay. The 800 freestyle relay team of Nicole Fitch (Marengo, Illinois), Kaitlyn Fox (Villa Park, Illinois), Evelyn Schaefer (Stoughton, Wisconsin) and Gaus finished seventh.

The men's best finish of the day came in the 200 medley relay. The team of Brady Hild (Tremont, Illinois), Jaydon Wilbon (Crown Point, Indiana), Ethan Main (Oneida, Illinois) and Camden Schmidt (Washington, Illinois) finished seventh. The 800 freestyle relay team of Tristan Kennon (Flossmoor, Illinois), Main, Hild and Finn Van Dyke (Lawrence, Kansas) finished eighth.
