Sepich Wins Singles Match but Scots Fall to IC

MONMOUTH, Ill. (04/17/2024) — The Monmouth College men's tennis team lost their final home match of the season 8-1 to Illinois College on Tuesday night.

Sawyer Day (Kansas City, Missouri) and Spencer Corn (Cupertino, California) played at No. 1 doubles with an 8-0 loss. Andrew Nickols (Janesville, Wisconsin) and Macaden Sepich (Mackinaw, Illinois) played at No. 2 doubles, falling 8-4, The Scots do not have a No. 3 doubles team.

Day played at No. 1 singles and lost 6-4, 6-2 while Corn lost 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2. Nickols lost 6-4, 6-0, at No. 3. Sepich got the Scots a win at No. 4 with a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Monmouth's lone senior, Nehemiah Declaw (Aurora, Colorado) played No. 5 and lost 6-2, 6-0.

The win by Sepich is the first in a MWC match for the Scots this season. The Scots play their final regular season match on Saturday with a 3 p.m. start at Lake Forest.
