MONMOUTH, Ill. (02/26/2023) — Monmouth College sophomore Maddie Boley (Beecher, Illinois) was named the Midwest Conference Women's Field Performer of the Year at this weekend's MWC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Boley won the shot put on Friday night with a final throw of 12.52m, edging out a Ripon competitor at 12.51m and teammate Addi Cox (Morton, Illinois) at 12.50m.
On Saturday, Boley finished second in the weight throw with a new season and career best throw of 15.77m. She finished just behind Cox who won with a throw of 15.80m.
Overall the Scots throwers finished 1st, 3rd, 4th and 7th in the shot put and 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th in the weight throw. These performances led the women's team to an overall second place finish.
Last year Boley was the MWC Outdoor champion in the discus after finishing fourth in both the shot put and weight throw indoors. She finished second in the outdoor shot put finals last May.
This is the second year in a row a Monmouth College thrower has won the MWC Indoor Field Performer of the Year. Last year, Kareema Lawal won the award while Jordan Peckham was named both the Indoor and Outdoor Track Performer of the Year.
Boley ranks 39th in the nation among Division III throwers in the shot put. She will have a chance next weekend to improve her standing in the Last Chance Qualifiers for the NCAA Championships. The top 20 individuals for each event qualify for the NCAA Championships in Birmingham, Alabama March 10-12.
