Stefanova, Holst Win in Tennis Loss at St. Ambrose

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/21/2024) — The Monmouth College women's tennis team dropped a non-conference match 5-2 on Saturday at St. Ambrose.

Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) teamed at #1 doubles with a 6-4 loss. Jennifer Shimmin (Monmouth, Illinois) and Kimber Calvert (Paris, Illinois) lost 6-2 at #2 doubles while Madison Springer (Galesburg, Illinois) and Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) lost 6-0 at #3 doubles.

Stefanova won 6-0, 6-2 at #1 singles to move into a tie for 10th on the Scots career list with 16 singles wins. Labicki won the opening set but eventually lost 10-7 in the tiebreaker at #2 singles. Shimmin lost 6-6, 6-1 at #3 while Natalie Holst (East Moline, Illinois) won 6-3, 6-4 at #4. Alayna McKinley (Rock Island, Illinois) lost 6-1, 6-0 at #5 and Abigail Springer (Galesburg, Illinois) lost her first collegiate singles match 6-0, 6-1

The Scots play at home against both Lawrence and Ripon in MWC action on Saturday, Sept. 28.
