Stefanova and Labicki Get Doubles Win at ITA Regionals

by Nathan Baliva

MONMOUTH, Ill. (09/20/2025) — Monmouth College women's tennis players Ivana Stefanova (Streamwood, Illinois) and Natalie Labicki (Antioch, Illinois) continued play in the ITA Central Regional on Saturday in St. Louis.

In doubles the duo took the courts at 9 a.m. to face a team from Rose-Hulman in the consolation round of 16. They got off to a very quick start and rode the momentum to an 8-3 win, advancing to the consolation quarterfinals.

"It was a very complete match for them as they showed patience in neutral situations, forcing the other team to compete," said head coach Brian Dahlstrom. "They both had great energy this morning and finished in attacking situations."

In the consolation quarterfinals they faced Case Western and stayed even through the first nine games before having the serve broken in game 10 to go down 6-4. Case Western won the next two games to win the match 8-4.

"It was a great experience to see what the next level is and recognize they can hang with that level," said Dahlstrom. "Case Western just found another gear at 30-all in the 5-4 game."

Labicki played in the singles consolation on Saturday after the two doubles matches. She fell to a player from DePauw 8-2, concluding Monmouth's run in the tournament.

MONMOUTH MOMENTS: With 22 career doubles wins, Stefanova moved into a tie for ninth on the Monmouth all-time list ... She is tied with Rachel Leifhelt while Labicki has 26 doubles wins, fourth all-time ... The Scots will return to action as a team with a Midwest Conference match at Illinois College on Wednesday.
